Other’s twenty-five year career in the Coldstream Guards encompassed service within a broad international spectrum: the UK, Germany, Canada, USA, Hong Kong, Brunei, Cyprus, Jordan, Egypt, Angola, Belize, South Georgia and the Falkland Islands. In addition he spent two years attached to the Australian Army based in Sydney.
Operational command experience was attained on numerous of tours in Northern Ireland, employed from platoon to company command level, and in 1993 he commanded an Armoured Infantry Company in central Bosnia. He was second-in-command of an Armoured Infantry Battalion based in Germany; second-in-command of a Battalion based in Northern Ireland; and commanded an independent Company responsible for state ceremonial duties in London. He was employed by the FCO in Angola as an observer during the first peace settlement between the MPLA and UNITA. He was on the Joint Headquarters staff during the 1991 Gulf War and the subsequent operations in Northern Iraq. He served two tours in the Ministry of Defence; one as a Defence Intelligence analyst the other in the Army Ceremonial Department, where his responsibilities included the planning of Royal and State Funerals.
Other retired from the British Army in 2002 and started using his experience as a project manager for a foam cutting company. He also used his IT skills to develop management programs He then worked as a freelance producing intelligence briefs and travel security briefs for journalists; he also conducted security reviews of commercial premises and designed business contingency plans. In 2003, he joined Chiron as Director of Operations and became a Company Director in 2004 and MD in 2006. Other holds a Security Industry Authority issued non front line Close Protection Licence (number: 0840 0119 7534 8841 expires 12/09/2012)
