The Security Industry Authority

The Private Security Industry Act of 2001 requires that anyone providing protection to persons in England, Scotland and Wales (and Noirthern Ireland from December 2009) must have a Security Industry Authority (SIA) Close Protection (CP) Licence.

Chiron has a team of experienced, trained, qualified and licensed close protection operatives with exceptional records, impeccable qualifications and high standards of personal discipline and bearing. They are capable of undertaking conventional close protection and security duties but have the experience to adjust to unconventional situations.

Chiron has both male and female operatives, as well as operatives from different ethnic backgrounds on our books. So whatever your task we can find you the best person to work for you.

Chiron has SIA licensed Close Protection Operatives based throughout the UK, as well as a number who live abroad.  Chiron can usually find someone who is able to deploy to support a TV crew working anywhere in the UK within a couple of hours notice.

Many of Chiron’s CP Operatives have worked for TV crews (including BBC National and Regional News, ITV News, CH4 News, as well as a number of British and Foreign Production Companies.)

All tasks supporting media crews in the UK require the consultant to be a CP Operative. Past tasks include: Doorstep interviews; undercover filming; filming in pubs and clubs; and covering football matches, protest marches, riots and parades.


Chiron provided a Residential Security Team (RST) of close protection specialists to look after a foreign VIP visiting London and staying in a private hospital.


Chiron provided a bodyguard to protect a film star who was in the UK filming for a recent movie.

Chiron provided close protection operatives to protect a visiting sporting team on tour in the UK.
