The best watering hole in London for anyone connecting with the media Industry is the Frontline club. Also provides good nosh and topical talks and discussions; or as they put it ‘a media club that uniquely combines eating, drinking and thinking’.
Many of Chiron Consultants have had an interesting life working in conflict zones. Some have stories to tell, or at least know and have access to stories. So if you are looking for ideas for new productions talk to Chiron.
War correspondents try to cover any conflict from both sides. This becomes difficult in any campaign where one side threaten to kidnap and murder any journalist. The options are therefore restricted to working independently or working ‘embedded’ with the military.
If you are working independently then make sure you have someone who understands security issues on your crew and are well briefed on the situation. If you require a pre deployment brief then maybe Chiron can help. Have a look at our Deployment Brief page.
If you are going embedded with the British Army then have a look at our ‘tips’ page. Remember that soldiers will have to look after you so don’t put their lives at risk by not being adequately trained and prepared - even things you take for granted (washing, cooking and sleeping) can be hazardous in Hostile Environments so learn how to be self reliant. Remember it only takes one thoughtless mistake to get someone killed - so don’t become a burden - get trained!
